2nd Session
U-14 Magic
Marblehead’s U-14 Team Magic won its first game of
the second session against Gloucester on Sunday
morning. Marblehead’s Abby and Julia
started the team off with some aggressive shots on
goal. Three minutes into the game, Sarah
assisted Jessica who scored first to put
Marblehead on the board. Great passing continued
throughout the first half between Paige and
Hannah who worked well together on
offense. Sarah made her second assist of
the day to Paige who scored with a nice
left foot shot in front of the net, giving Magic a
2-0 lead. Pamela was strong as goalie
stopping several shots. Magic continued their
aggressiveness on offense as Paige scored
again when she took advantage of a loose ball that
Gloucester’s goalie dropped in front of the net.
Julia continued to build the lead when she
scored with a ball rebounded off the boards. Soon
after, Jessica scores her second goal and
before the half was over, Paige scored her
third with a ball off the wall from Anna .
The second half had Julia in goal.
Marblehead’s determined defense of Abby ,
Sarah and Hannah were able to keep
Gloucester from striking on net. With 12 minutes
into the half, Jessica scored her third
goal of the game and Hannah scored her
first goal with an assist from Pamela Gregory. With
an 8-0 lead over Gloucester, Magic felt confident
but before the half was over, Gloucester decided to
turn on the heat and with an aggressive offensive
line, they were able to comeback with 2 goals on
Marblehead, ending in an 8-2 victory.
U-14 Magic
Marblehead’s Team Magic played an aggressive Beverly
team on Sunday. It was a defensive game to
start as Beverly was determined coming on strong
with several shots on Marblehead’s goal.
Pamela was outstanding as goal keeper throughout the
entire game, saving and tackling the ball endlessly.
Abby , Sarah and Izzy were solid on defensive, while
Paige , Jessica and Anna worked well on offensive.
Both teams were aggressive with numerous shots on
goal but no success on scoring. But that was
about to change with 2 minutes left in the half when
Julia shot a ball off the boards to Sarah who tapped
it in to score in front of the net as the Beverly
goalie was down.
The second half of the game continued with a
stellar performance from Pamela as goal
keeper. Both teams continued their quest for a goal
but it was Beverly who struck first, scoring on a
penalty shot six minutes into the half to tie up the
game 1-1. Annie Ryan and Hannah had some
strong defensive moves to keep the ball out of
Marblehead’s end. The excitement grew with both
teams eager to take the lead but after a long fought
battle between the two, the game ended in a tie
1-1.
