Marblehead’s U10
Inferno Off to Roaring Start
Marblehead's U10 team Inferno made
a strong first showing tying with one of the league’s
toughest competitors, Beverly. Beverly was
first on the board but Marblehead’s Megan McC. answered
Beverly’s first goal, when she stole the ball, dribbling
halfway down the field on a breakaway and nail one,
tying the game 1-1. Inferno's offensive pressure
continued when Eve R. fired a shot off the boards
allowing Olivia E. to score on the rebound making it
2-1. Despite a tough Inferno defense, Beverly answered
quickly tying it up before the end of the first half.
Marblehead first half goaltender Elise J, had a
tremendous first showing ripping the ball out of enemy
territory, clearing goal kicks halfway down the field.
In the 2nd half: It was
a back and forth matchup of these two teams. Megan R. on
offense kept the pressure on, setting up a beautiful
corner shot for Eve R. who capitalized making it 3-2.
Beverly answered quickly tying the game with less than
5 minutes remaining.
Beverly's intense pressure did
little to rattle 2nd half Marblehead goalie Diamond B.
in the second half, her quick reflexes and diving saves
kept Inferno in the game and frustrating Beverly’s
offense. The final 4-4.

Bye week
Marblehead U-10 Team Inferno faced a tough Danvers
Marblehead U-10 Team
Inferno faced a tough Danvers opponent on Saturday.
Marblehead opened the scoring quickly at the 2 minute
mark with a goal from Hayli P setup by Kaelyn A. Danvers
countered with 3 goals taking the lead at 3-1. With 4
minutes left in the first half, Elisa J blasted one
making it 3 to 2. Now just one goal behind and just two
minutes later, Julia D placed a brilliant direct kick
into the upper left corner tying the game 3 all.
Spectacular saves throughout the first half by Lucie P
gave Marblehead the confidence they needed for the
second half.
Marblehead’s scoring momentum carried over into the
second half with two quick goals from Elisa J and Lucie
P allowing Marblehead to take a 5-3 lead. Olivia E
setup Diamond B on a two-on -one rush to make the game 6
to 3. Elisa J was awarded a penalty shot and she did
not disappoint the Marblehead fans scoring the team’s
first hat trick , giving Marblehead another goal and
expanding the lead to 7-3. Even though Marblehead
scored 6 unanswered goals, Danvers did not give up.
They were able to score twice more, but Julia D held
her ground in goal for the second half, allowing
Marblehead to stay ahead by two. The final score was 7
to 5--a big win for Marblehead.
Marblehead Inferno
Remains Undefeated
In the first 25 minutes
against a formidable opponent,
Julia D. scored the only
goal in the first half giving Marblehead 1 goal lead
over Lynnfield. Amanda G. recorded the first half
shutout which included denying a heavy onslaught of
shots in the final minutes of play. Lynnfield found
their rhythm early in the second half tying the game 1
all. However, 5 minutes later, Lexi B. setup her twin
sister Maeve B., giving Marblehead the 2 to 1 advantage.
Lynnfield would tie the game at two 90 seconds later,
but that was all Marblehead goaltender Olivia E. would
allow in the second half. Julia D. showed some magic
recording a hat trick in leading Marblehead to a 4 to 2
advantage with 7 minutes remaining. Thirty seconds
later Kaelyn A. continued offensive pressure, setting up
Eve R. for the score. In the final minute of play Katie
P. drove one home solidifying the 6 to 2 advantage.
Team Inferno is in first place!
10 team Inferno beat Swampscott Saturday to
remain undefeated
U-10 team Inferno beat Swampscott Saturday
to remain undefeated on the season. Lucie
P. blistering shot opened the scoring 4
minutes into the game. She was joined by
Eve R. who leveraged the boards to outsmart
the defense drive one into the back of the
net. The first half two to nothing shutout
was backstopped by goalie Megan R.. The
practice of swapping goalies continued as
Kaelyn A. looked ominous in net for the
second half. Megan did not wait long to
show her offensive skills and found the back
of Swampscott’s net 2 minutes into the
half. Swampscott countered, but Elise J.
would show she could score from way outside
the box with her long range power.
Swampscott countered again, but with 48
seconds left Elise put the game away with
the final score of 5 to 2.
